The Los Angeles World Affairs Council Young Professionals program occupies a unique niche in LA’s professional scene, incorporating a diverse group of young individuals with a shared passion for the world around us. Young Professionals hosts a broad range of social and networking events, discussions, and volunteer opportunities—all with a healthy emphasis on the international community. The unique nature of this association attracts a heterogeneous crowd with a distinct amplitude of backgrounds and opinions.

Apply Now! WACA Student Scholars Program

The Los Angeles World Affairs Council is proud to support the Student Scholars Program for the 2025 World Affairs Councils of America National Conference, happening in Washington, DC, November 19–21, 2025.

Under the theme The World, On Balance,” this conference will feature global leaders, diplomats, and experts discussing today’s most pressing international issues—from shifting geopolitics to global trade and evolving foreign policy.

The Student Scholars Program allows 25 nominated undergraduate students from across the country to attend the conference and the special Student Scholar Day on Wednesday, November 19—all at no cost to the students.

Eligibility:

A Council may nominate one undergraduate student, 18 years or older, from within their local communities.
The following students are not eligible to apply:
  • High school students
  • Graduate students
  • College students in Greater Washington, DC (“the DMV”)
  • Applicants from prior years

One student per Council may be nominated. Multiple student nominees from the same Council will not be considered

Application Deadline: Friday, September 12, 2025, by 11:59 PM

To apply, please email Krista Seitz at kseitz@lawac.org with your current resume and a 1–2 page Letter of Intent.

LAWAC will review all applications and select one student nominee to represent our Council at the conference.
