The Los Angeles World Affairs Council seeks to promote a better understanding of current world affairs by hosting prominent speakers and giving our members the chance to hear them first-hand.

Each season (September to July) the Council hosts between 30 and 40 events.  Events normally consist of a three-course meal, an address by the guest speaker and a question and answer session.  Recent speeches and links to archived speeches are listed on our home page.

The Council does not endorse or promote any specific viewpoint, but invites speakers with differing opinions and expects attendees to show respect for those viewpoints.

Event venues are primarily Westside hotels (e.g. the Beverly Hilton) or downtown Los Angeles hotels (the Marriott, the Biltmore, the Omni).

Member ticket prices range from around $35 to around $45, depending on the venue and whether the event is a luncheon or a dinner.  Members can also purchase tickets for their guests at the guest rate, usually $10 above the member price.

Our membership has several levels, each with its own benefits.  For more details on corporate sponsorship or International Circle benefits, please contact Dale Cowgill at extension 15 in our office.

If you wish to join the Los Angeles World Affairs Council, please print out and mail the completed membership application to:
